My name is Kari Turner and I’m an artist based in the Pacific Northwest.
I enjoy illustration, visual storytelling, and all things weird and creepy. Working primarily in digital, ink, and watercolor mediums, I love combining the odd and the unexpected.
I have been creating since I was a child. My first artistic award came when I was nine years old when a coloring page I submitted to the local paper won me tickets to Disney on Ice. Over the course of my childhood and adolescence, I won many awards. During my senior year of high school, I presented an art show focusing on mental health. My entry won first place as well as best-in-show.
Then I plunged into education and career with an intense dose of "real life." In addition to studying French and anthropology, I earned a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), lived in Europe for 5 years, and worked on a number of creative projects and project management/development, all while pursuing creative projects on the side as a hobby.
My desire to continue my artistic endeavors has grown since returning to the U.S. in 2021. Friends and family constantly ask me, “When are you going to start showing and selling your work?"
Why not now?
In my work, I strive to constantly try new things and devote more time to creating peculiar pieces. Salvador Dali and Alfonse Mucha are the artists who inspire me the most. At least one of my pieces should make you think, “Huh?” or “I wonder what this means...” Most of all, my goal is to release more full projects (tutorials, breakdowns of processes, instructional classes, etc.), collaborate with other artists, and participate in art therapy projects.
I would also like to thank you for taking the time to look at my work. Whatever form it takes, your support enables me to put my passion into action.
Contact me via e-mail or social media. Opportunities, projects, and friendships are always on my radar! Let's talk!
